I am so excited to bring to you this cute little hat pattern.  This pattern is the first release from Home made hats for the Designer's Potpourri Crochet-A-Long.  This is also the first CAL that I have participated in as a designer.  This cute hat can be made in an afternoon.  I have made this pattern easy enough for everyone; beginners too!

A special Thank you to my tester Mary for testing for me last minute.  You are truly a lifesaver.  You can find pictures of Mary's work on my Facebook page here.

This pattern is written in American Crochet Terms.  This pattern fits 0/3 month old baby.  Flat circle measurement at end of round 3 is 3.25 inches.  Finished length of hat is 5 inches from top.

Stitches and Abbreviations Used:
dc - double crochet
mr - magic ring
sc - single crochet
ss - slip stitch
Bst - berry stitch:  to make Bst, insert hook in designated chain or stitch, bring up loop, leaving loop on hook, chain 3 more sts, draw through last two loops on hook.

To begin, with I hook and white make mr, ch 2, 12 dc in ring.  If you don’t know the magic ring method you can ch 3 and make 12 dc in 3rd ch from hook.  Pull tail tight.
Round 2 - 2 dc in each stitch around (24 dc); join with ss in top of ch 2.
Round 3 -  ch 2, *2 dc in next stitch, dc in next st, repeat from * around, join, ch 2(36 dc)
Rounds 4 thru 9 - dc in each stitch around, change to red, ch 1 do not fasten white off, you will be picking it back up in the next round.
Round 10 - sc in each stitch around (36 sc), join with ss, pick white back up, ch 1
Round 11 - sc,  *Bst, sc around. (18 Bst, 18 sc), change to red, ch 1, join with ss to first sc
Round 12 - sc in each st around, fasten off, weave in ends.

Bow -  With Red and I hook, chain 5, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, ch 1 turn.
Rows 2 - 10 sc in each chain across, ch 1 turn. (4 sc)  Fasten off.

Wrap center of bow with yarn.  I wrapped my bow about 10 to 15 times.  Fasten off and secure bow to hat.

On the Berries & Bow Baby Hat, in Rnd 11, there is an * but no subsequent * to indicate what to repeat. Is this * just an error? Thanks.

Thank you Kathy, it should read sc, *Bst, sc, repeat from * around.

OMG!! Thank you for asking I didn't even realize that I didn't include the final steps for the bow. Wrap the center of the bow with yarn and fasten off. Secure bow to hat. I wrapped the center of my bow about 10 or 15 times with yarn.
