The other day I showed you how to make a Ruffle Flower embellishment for the Front Post Double Crochet Hat. Today I am going to tell you how to make a Double Ruffle Flower. This little flower looks similar to a carnation. For this flower I used Caron Simply Soft Gold. This #4 weight yarn is a multi with shades of orange, peach and gold. Double Ruffle Flower is a great way to use up those odds and ends of yarn you have hanging around.
Small amount of #4 weight worsted yarn
I hook (or any hook you prefer, depending on how big or small you want the flower to be)
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends and attaching flower to project
Stitches and Abbreviations:
Chain - ch
Slip Stitch - ss
Magic Ring - MR
Double Crochet - dc
Front Loop Only - FL or FLO
Back Loop Only - BL or BLO
Treble (triple) Crochet ~ tc to make tc, yarn over twice, insert hook in to designated stitch or space, *yarn over, draw up a loop, yarn over draw through 2 loops, repeat from * 2 more times. Triple crochet made.
To Begin -
With I hook make MR, ch 2, make 12 dc in ring. If you don't know the MR method you can chain 3, make 12 dc in 3rd ch from hook. Join with ss to first dc made.
Round 1: working in FLO make 6 dc in each stitch around, do not join. (72 dc)
Round 2: working in BLO make 6 tc in each stitch around. Join with ss to first dc made on round 1.
Fasten off. Weave in ends, leaving a long enough tail to attach flower to hat or other project you are making.
