My Quick n Easy Men's Hat is one of my most popular patterns. It uses one skein of Lion Brand Hometown USA, a #6 bulky weight yarn. You can whip up one of these hats in less than an hour.
Today I am going to give you the child's version of this simple hat. I have eight (8) grandchildren who are always in need of warm hats, mittens and scarves. Living in the Northeast we get some pretty cold and windy conditions. This hat will fit children from 4 to 8/9 years.
What you will need to make this hat is one (1) skein of Lion Brand Hometown USA, a P hook, tapestry needle and about 45 minutes. Grab a cup of coffee or tea and let's crochet!!
To begin, make magic ring (mr), chain (ch) 2, make 10 double crochet (dc) in ring. Join with a slip stitch (ss) to first dc made, ch 2. If you don't know the mr method, ch 2, 10 dc in first ch made.
Rnd 2: 2 dc in each stitch around (20 dc), join with ss in first dc made, ch 2
Rnd 3: 2 dc in first st, *dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, repeat from * around (30 dc), join with ss in first st made, ch 2
Rnds 4 - 8: dc in each st around, join with ss, ch 2 (30 dc) at end of rnd 8, join with ss in front loop (fl) of 1st st made ch 2,
Rnd 9: dc in fl only in each st around, join with ss in first st made, ch 1
Rnd 10: single crochet (sc) in each st around, join with ss in first st made, (30 sc)
Fasten off, weave in ends.
Baby and woman's version coming soon!!!
