Shell Stitch Dish/Wash Cloth

Make this simple dish/wash cloth today. Works up quickly with great results. Done in 100% cotton it is soft enough to use on baby's face or bum!! Whether you use it as a dishcloth or a wash cloth the pretty colors are sure to brighten any kitchen or bath. This pattern makes an 8 x 8 inch square.
Materials
J/10/6 mm hook
1 2.5 oz ball Peaches and Creme Cotton
(I used #02223; clearwater ombre)
Technique
Regular Crochet
Special Stitches
Shell - sh
to make shell, 5 dc in st indicated
Chain - ch
Double Crochet - dc
Single Crochet - sc
This stitch pattern uses mulitples of 6 (six) plus 2 (two). Turning chain counts as first dc through out
To begin, with J hook chain 32.
Row 1 - sc in 2nd ch from hook, *skip 2 ch, shell in next chain space, skip 2 ch, sc in next ch space, repeat from * to end. Ch 3, turn
Row 2 - 2 dc in base of ch, *skip 2 st, sc in center st of shell of previous row, skip 2 st, shell in sc of previous row, repeat from * across, ch 1, turn.
Row 3 - sc in 1st stitch, *skip 2 st, sh in sc of previous row, skip 2 st, sc in center of sh of previous row, repeat from * across, ch 3, turn.
Rows 4 - 16 repeat rows 2 and 3 ~ at end of row 16 do not fasten off.
Edging ~ sc, ch, sc around edge of square working sc, ch 2, sc in corners. Join with slip st, fasten off & weave in ends.
You now have a beautiful dish/wash cloth to give as a gift or to use for yourself.
