After a few messages over Facebook it was decided that my client wanted a 36 X 36 inch chevron blanket. After some trial and error trying to get my stitch count for the pattern sets down I think I have the stitch mastered. What is a Chevron? According to Wikipedia "A chevron (also spelled cheveron, especially in older documents) is a V-shaped pattern. The word is usually used in reference to a kind of fret in architecture, or to a badge or insignia used in military or police uniforms to indicate rank or length of service, or in heraldry and the designs of flags (see flag terminology). The symbol is also used on highway signs to guide drivers around curves." The Chevron has been used by military world wide on uniforms to show rank. In crochet a chevron is a V shaped stitch pattern used in baby blankets, jackets and other crocheted items. It is also called a ripple stitch and is usually done in single crochet. I did my chevrons in double crochet ~ The chevron pattern that I used is based on a multiple of 12 chains plus 2 extra, it is called a Lacey chevron. I used this pattern to make a scarf for a child and also an adult scarf. you can find the adult scarf pattern under the FREE patterns tab. It is listed as Ladies Lacey Chevron Scarf. I am including some pictures to help you understand the pattern. If you have any trouble please feel free to contact me.
