A free hat pattern for you!  This adorable summer hat is done in shell stitch with a lovely flower embellishment.  The flower is not my creation and I have included the link to make it.  With or without the flower this cotton hat is perfect for the beach or any outdoor activity.  You can make one for your toddler and a matching one for yourself all with the same pattern, just a change of hook size and you are good to go!  Child’s hat will fit 2-3 years.

Materials

Girls Hat  I/5.5 mm hook (flat circle measurement  4.5 to 4.75 inches at end of round 5)

Womens Hat J/6 mm  hook (flat circle measurement 6 - 6.25 inches at end of round 5)

Peaches and Creme Cotton

Tapestry Needle

Buttons optional for center of flower ~ I used a french knot with a strand of each color.

Girls

Main Color (MC)  2.5 oz Fresh Lilac

Contrast Color (CC) Small Amount Black Currant

Womens

Main Color 2.5 oz Ecru

Contrast Color Burgundy

I can't wait to make some of these for our hospital gift shop. They will be very popular! Thanks so much for sharing. Since I supply all my own yarn I try not to have to buy patterns for the donations if possible.
