Light & Lacey Cowl
Many of you that follow me on Instagram know that today is the day for the release of my most recent design. Here is the free pattern for the Light and Lacey Cowl. This cowl is done in Red Heart Yarns Boutique Unforgettable in the Candied colorway. This roving style yarn comes in beautiful colors, is easy to care for and is oh so soft, you can view them all here. This cowl is soon to become a favorite. You can wear Light & Lacey as an accessory to add a pop of color to a plain blouse; wear it as a winter accessory on the slopes, at the rink or just around town doing errands!! This soft and warm cowl is sure to keep the chilly wind off your neck.
This easy pattern uses an H hook and approximately 1/2 a skein of yarn. This cowl measures 8.25 inches wide (seamed) 16.5 (flat) by 11 inches high. This pattern is written in American Crochet Terms and is rated as Easy. With a 2 row pattern repeat you can easily memorize; making this the perfect project for on the go. Materials: 1 skein Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable, this pattern uses approximately 2 oz H/8/5 mm hook Tapestry needle for seaming Scissors or snips Stitches and Abbreviations Used: ch - chain sc - single crochet 2 dcCL - 2 double crochet cluster, to make (Yo, insert hook in indicated st or ch, bring up loop, yo take 2 loops off hook) twice in the same stitch, yo take all 3 loops off hook. dc - double crochet To begin, with H hook chain 102. Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, *ch 2, skip 1 ch, 2dcCL in next ch, skip 1 ch, sc in the next ch, repeat from * across, turn. Row 2: Ch 5 (counts as dc, ch 2), skip next ch 2 space, sc in 2dcCL, *ch 5, skip next 2 ch 2 spaces, sc in next 2dcCL; repeat from * across to within last ch 2 space, ch2, skip next ch 2 space, dc in last sc, turn. Row 3: Ch1, sc in first dc, ch 2, *2dcCL in next sc, ch 2**, sc in next ch 5 loop, ch 2; repeat from * across, ending last repeat at **, sc in 3rd ch of turning chain. Repeat rows 2 & 3 for pattern. Work in pattern until piece measures 11 inches, ending with row 2. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for seaming. Seam up the back of your Light & Lacey cowl and gift or wear it!!
