Hello everyone!  It has been a couple weeks since my last post.  Things here have been a bit busy.  I have been having some difficulty with my teeth so a trip to the oral surgeon was in order.  I am ok and have been on antibiotic and a special mouth rinse.  I will be having two teeth pulled shortly; the antibiotics have kicked in and I am feeling oh so much better!!

I have been working on a new pattern.  Shown on the left are my Men's Slippers.  They are done in a #6 super bulky weight yarn and a P hook.  They work up quickly and with some simple color changes you can get a totally different look.  Tested by my friend and fellow crocheter and new blogger Susanne of Stitchin Shishums.  I would like to take the time to say "Thank you Susanne for all of your help with this pattern."  All of the photos included in this post are being used with her permission.

This pattern is written in American Crochet Terms.  I made these slippers to fit a size 10.5 man’s foot.  They are easily adaptable to a larger size.  Please read pattern in it’s entirety before beginning.

Designer Notes: Adjustments to make your slippers longer or wider are in bold parentheses.  I have written this to fit an average width and a size 10.5 mens (US).  If you have pattern questions please feel free to email me.  You can find a contact form on the contact page!!

Materials:
2-5 oz skeins Lionbrand Hometown USA #6 super bulky yarn.  I used Montpelier Peacock
P hook
Tapestry needle
Stitches & Abbreviations Used:
mr - magic ring
sc - single crochet
hdc - half double crochet
sc2tog - single crochet 2 together
ss - slip stitch
ch - chain
tc - turning ch
Gauge:  3 rows x 4 stitches = 2 inches in hdc
Technique:
Regular crochet
Rating:
Easy

Rnd 1:  mr, ch 1, 8 sc in ring. Join with/ss in 1st sc. Ch 2
If you don’t know the magic ring method - Chain 2, 8 sc in 2nd chain from hook.
Rnd 2:  hdc in same St as join, *2 hdc in next st, hdc in next St, rep from * around (12 hdc) join w/ss in top of ch 2.
Rnd 3:  hdc in first 2 St, *2 hdc in next St, hdc 2, rep from * around (16 hdc)
Rnd 4:  for wider slippers only!!!  hdc 4, *2 hdc, hdc 4, repeat around (18 hdc)
Rnd 4 (5) -13:   hdc around (16 hdc) join ch 2.  You will now begin working in rows.

Row 1 - 7 (8)  hdc 12 (14), ch 2, turn.  (12 (14) hdc + 1 tc)

To make your slippers longer, you can add additional rows here.  Keep in mind when you begin working in the ends of rows, that you will have an additional 2 stitches for each row added, adjust your stitch count accordingly.

Row 8 - Working in ends of rows, hdc 7 (8), 2 sc in next st (this will be your last st worked on round 13) sc 4, 2 sc in next st, hdc 7 (8).  Ch 1, turn. (14 (16) hdc, 8 sc, 1 tc.)
Row 9 - sc 7(8); (sc2tog) 4 times, sc 7(8), ch 1, turn (14 (16) sc, 4 sc2tog, 1 tc)
Row 10 - sc in each st across, fasten off leaving a long tail for seaming back of slipper; weave in ends. (18 (20) sc)

The picture above is to help with the stitch placement on Row 8.  I have tried to make this pattern as simple to read as possible.  I have included notations in bold to make the slippers wider or longer.

To achieve the two tone look Susanne did her color changes at round 4 and at round 13.  She also made a color change at row 7.  I love the way she did the color changes.  It really changes up the look of the slipper.

Great pattern but I need help in understanding, "Keep in mind when you begin working in the ends of rows, that you will have an additional 2 stitches for each row added, adjust your stitch count accordingly." Thanks for any clarification!

Hi Loraine ~ If you decide to make the slipper longer than what I have written down, then you will be adding two stitches for each additional row when you go to work around the top edge of the slipper. Does this help clarify things for you? If you need additional help please feel free to email me at homemadehats121@gmail.com
