Recently I was sitting here at the computer and I saw the UPS truck pull up out front. I wasn't expecting anything so I was surprised when the driver came to the door. I asked him if I need to sign anything and he said "no, have a nice day."
The return address on the box said "Coats & Clark" so I knew right away that the box contained yarn. Upon opening it I discovered three skeins of Red Heart's latest yarn, {Mix-ol-o-gy}. You can find more about this #6 super bulky weight yarn at Red Heart Yarns. I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to make with this yarn so I set it aside and continued with the project I had been working on. Looking for something to do this morning I pulled out the box of yarn from Red Heart and began playing around with it. Working with the skein of "Swirl" in the Calypso colorway I created this Slouchie Hat with just one skein. It worked up quickly and I was done within an hour. I am really pleased with how this soft, homespun style yarn felt in my hands and how easily it glided over my hook. This yarn comes in 4 oz skeins, comes in beautiful mix and match colorways and is made of an easy care acrylic/polyester blend. Since the yarn has so much texture I didn't need elaborate stitches to create additional texture. This yarn has enough on it's own!! The recommended hook size is N and the recommended needle size is 15 US. I used a P hook for my hat. You can find the pattern below. ![]()

So I found your pattern and I'd like to try it, but I have one question. You list that you used a P hook...may I ask the mm size of that hook. I'm finding a discrepancy between companies of P & N hooks. I have an N hook that's 10mm, but some places say P hooks are 10mm and N are 9mm....apparently this all depends on what company made the hook...

Jamie, I must make a correction, the hook I used is a 11.5 mm not an 11 mm. I'm really sorry about this mistake. I hope that this helps you out sista!!

Hey Cheryl, I love this hat and have started to make it but, being a newbie at crocheting, I wonder if I understand it correctly. I have finished Round 3 and have 19 stitches. It looks as though there are no more increase rows and the hat looks as though it would be too small. I am wondering if Round 3 should be repeated more rather than Round 4.
